Alexander Zverev is a superstar in the world of tennis. The man achieved a lot and defeated the very best in the business on numerous occasions. Not long ago, he defeated Novak Djokovic to win the Nitto ATP Finals.

Undoubtedly, he was expected to do well at the Australian Open too. However, even after starting well in the first few encounters, Zverev wasn’t able to move any further than the third round as a determined Denis Shapovalov thrashed him in straight sets.

Denis is a fantastic talent, however, he was clearly the underdog when he stepped in to play against Zverev in the third round. Guess that worked in his favor as he played ruthlessly and attacked Zverev.

The German was clearly not at his best as he wasn’t able to capitalize on the opportunities presented by his opponent. In the end, the contest ended 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in Shapovalov’s favor and Zverev was left fuming.

The German’s frustration was apparent as clearly, more was needed and expected from him being the third seed in the tournament. With Djokovic already not part of the tournament and Zverev now knocked out, Medvedev and Nadal now seem to be the two biggest contenders to win the AO this time around.
