“What!!”: Creepy dolls are washing up on shoreline & even scientists are spooked!

A Mission-Aransas Reserve researcher holds up a baby doll she found on a Texas beach

During a 40-mile search for turtles, marine mammals, and rare bird species, scientists who frequently visit a Texas beach for research discovered more than 30 dolls.

A dozen of creepy dolls appear on the coastline.

Jace Tunnell and a team of scientists from the University of Texas Marine Science Institute visit the beach twice a week to research marine life. During the research process, the team is left spooked, after they found multiple bizarre-looking dolls appearing on the coastline every now and then.

The origin of the dolls is yet to be known, and the locals have come up with multiple theories and urban legends about the phenomenon. Tunnel, who is also the director of the Mission-Aransas Reserve, claims that since he started posting images of the dolls on Facebook, their profile has gone viral.

The team has found at least 30 dolls till now, and more keep washing up the shore.

Every day is something new. Just when you think you’ve found everything that could possibly wash up on shore, something else comes up.” Tunnel said, “The creepiest are the ones that have lost their hair” he added.

The first one we had found was a sex doll, the head of it. I posted a picture of it and I didn’t realize that’s what it was. We got a lot of followers on the page after that.

In the photos shared online, some dolls consisted of only a head while the others had chewed off limbs.

Surprisingly, the first doll head was discovered in January 2021 and purchased for £27 by a member of the public.

The proceeds went to a sea rescue program, and the crew now plans to auction off the remainder of their scary doll collection at the reserve’s annual fundraising auction.

Jace Tunnell said “There’s a lot of nightmares out there. They could definitely be haunted.

Being compared to the horror-movie franchise Annabelle, the netizens have interesting words to share about the dolls.

Creepy and why are there so many dolls in the ocean? Am I missing something?” one user commented on the post while another said “This one looks happy to be found

Beaches throughout the Texas Coastal Bend receive up to 10 times the quantity of washed-up debris as beaches in other Gulf of Mexico states like Mississippi and Florida, according to a new two-year research by the UT Marine Science Institute.
