Lewis Hamilton vs Max Verstappen

Going in into the final race of the season 2021 both Verstappen’s and Hamilton’s points were at a tie in the Drivers’ standing. Both of them scored 369.5 before the Abu Dabhi Grand Prix. It meant that it was the final race that would decide the fate of the 2021 champion.

Verstappen started at the pole after qualifying for P1 whereas Hamilton qualified for P2. When the race started Hamilton took no time to overtake Verstappen and was successful to create a substantial gap between him and Verstappen. Hamilton throughout the race maintained that position but at the last moment safety car completely changed the scenario.

Verstappen used the safety car to pit himself and get a set of new Soft tires whereas Hamilton was gutted to miss the pit stop. Even when he couldn’t get a pit stop Hamilton had a great advantage. Between him and Verstappen, there were other cars but just then came in F1’s one of the most controversial calls.

The race director Michael Masi decided to get those cars to get unlapped themselves. This move made Verstappen’s way to victory easy. Verstappen who was on a fresh set of soft tires was too quick for Hamilton to defend and Verstappen was successful to win the race and win the 2021 Driver’s Championship title too.

Lewis Hamilton who was absolutely gutted with his loss was left short of words. Hamilton who did not make a wrong move the whole race was absolutely heartbroken. With Mercedes filing an official complaint to the FIA and getting all the legal angles of the race covered, we all were sure that this race will forever remain one of the most controversial ones.

Will he be back?

There is no comment from Hamilton on his retirement but the speculation is around that the Mercedes is looking for an option. Hamilton’s silence on this topic is deafening for his fans and admirers but we all sure don’t know what is going on in his mind.

Many racers on the grid have decided to get back in the groove by practising for the new season whereas Hamilton was spotted in LA enjoying a milkshake. Hamilton was even spotted getting pictures with fans

With all of these pictures coming out Hamilton fans will surely be hoping for their King to return in style and get the 8th title in his bag.
