In a recent video, The Italian Olympic Gold medalist Sofia Goggia was seen crashing while taking a downhill turn during the World Cup on Sunday. The event occurred in the Olympia Delle Tofan course in Cortina.
She won 8 out of 9 downhill followed by the unfortunate crash. Goggia was seen moving steadily until she lost control and slid downhill crashing her head and was sent flying really far.
Sofia Goggia’s Injuries and it’s Impact on The Beijing Olympics 2022:
Despite the crash being life-threatening, Sofia doesn’t seem to have suffered major injuries and is determined to rehabilitate within the time for The Beijing Olympics 2022 to defend her title. She seems to have suffered a left knee strain, a partial cruciate ligament tear and a small fibula fracture.

“It’s a shame that this injury comes in a very important moment of the season,” Goggia added, “but in the next few hours, I’ll start the physio treatment so I can try to defend my title in the discipline I love the most.“
Goggia was even nominated to carry the Italian Flag at The Beijing Olympics opening on February 4th, which seems really questionable looking at the current scenario. Sofia has a very bright aura and her dedication and motivation towards the particular discipline is really appealing.
