Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, The rising star
Whenever we see any young talent who takes the world by storm in tennis, we instantly start comparing him to the legends. However, not many have been able to live up to the hype they created in the early days of their career.
After all, to maintain the same level of the game while battling injuries, season after season, through decades, is not the easiest thing. This is why the big three, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer are rated so highly by everyone.
However, it is evident that the big 3 are in the latter part of their careers and new stars are emerging onto the big stage who might be able to match the legacy created by these stars. One such talent is Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz Gafia.
What makes Carlos Alcaraz Garfia so special?
When Carlos alcaraz garfia burst onto the big stage, many were baffled by his ability to move around the court. There were striking similarities between his and Novak Djokovic’s gameplay. Djokovic might not play the most elegant of the shots like Federer and Nadal, however, he is someone who is an expert when it comes to moving around the court to make contact with the ball on most occasions.
Carlos has got a similar kind of style. The way he makes his way from one corner to the other on the court is simply astonishing. However, we can’t really call him the next Djokovic only because his gameplay is similar to the Serbian star.
Carlos alcaraz garfia is only 18 years old at this time and has already won 2 career titles. He reached the second round of the 2021 Wimbledon, then made his way to the third round of the 2021 French Open and looked in great touch at the 2022 Australian Open as well where he reached the third round.
Post that, he became the youngest ever ATP 500 champion after he ended up winning the Rio Open this year. Moreover, the way he has played at the Indian Wells Open against some of the top names is simply sensational.
He defeated Gael Monfils, the man who knocked out World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in some style in the round of 16s at the Indian Wells and then thrashed Cam Norrie without much trouble to make his way into the semis.
Carlos has a mighty challenge in front of him in the name of Rafael Nadal. Rafael has been a mighty force through the years and after a string of injuries, Nadal made a superb comeback in 2022 as he ended up winning the Australian Open.
Whether Carlos defeats Nadal to win the ATP 1000 tournament or not, well that’s a separate topic of discussion. What we can say is that if not this time, then definitely in the future Alcaraz will win a lot of tournaments.
Looking at the way he has worked on himself in the past few years, Alcaraz is definitely a star of the future. The only thing that might bring him down is injury. If he is taken care of nicely and he manages to keep the injury count down, Carlos might turn out to be the next superstar in the world of tennis.
