RIP Kobe and Gigi Bryant

Sculptor Dan Medina on the 2nd Year death anniversary erected the 160 pound bronze statue of Kobe and his daughter Gigi at the crash site. Speaking to Reuters the sculptor told about how he was not assigned to do it or no one said him to do that but he did it to honour the great Black Mamba and all the lives that were lost here.

“The reason why I came today was that when I would visit the area prior to this I never got that sense of something was done in the right way to honour the lives that were lost. And this is my attempt to kind of do things the right way.”

“This is all of my own, no one asked me to do it,” Medina told Reuters.

“On this day, the second anniversary of the accident, I decided to bring it up from sunrise to sunset and create a bit of a healing process for fans.”

“Today was special because I witnessed a lot of that. People would come up and they would leave with some sort of satisfaction.”

The Statue is engraved with all the names of the people who lost their lives and Kobe’s famous quote

“Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.”
