“Jujutsu Kaisen Play to Debut soon on live stage”
They will be performing the Mahito arc on the live stage. Fans would finally get to see what Yuji Itadori and his fellow Jujutsu sorcerers would look like on live stage. The play will run in Tokyo from July 15th to 31st, followed by another run in Osaka from August 4th to 14th.
The released image of the cast reveals an extraordinary resemblance to that of the anime series. The manga-accurate costumes were released via the Japanese news site Comic Natalie followed by a preview presentation in Tokyo’s Scramble Hall theatre on April 13th.
Jujutsu Kaisen Overview
Jujutsu Kaisen is a Weekly Shōnen Jump manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. It was the best-selling manga series in Japan for 2021, narrowly edging out Demon Slayer aka Kimetsu no Yaiba. It sold 30 million copies in the last 12 months.
The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, Yuji becomes the host of Sukuna by swallowing his finger(a cursed object).
The play stars Ryuji Sato as the series’ protagonist, Itadori Yuji. Sato is well known in Japan for starring in several high profile anime-to-stage adaptations, including Naruto. With Kazuaki Yasue as Megumi Fushiguro and Erika Toyoharu as Nobara Kugisaki. The trio and our beloved sensei, Satoru Gojo, the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer, is played by Ryosuke Miura. Kento Nanami, a former student of Tokyo Jujutsu High and a salaryman who continues to work as a sorcerer, serves as Yuji’s mentor throughout the arc.
The series’ villain Suguru Geto is played by Rei Fujita. The arc’s primary antagonist Mahito is played by Motohiro Ohta. Tact Igarashi plays the role of Ryomen Sukuna popularly known as THE KING OF CURSES, the powerful sorcerer whose soul is now imprisoned within Yuji’s body.
Recently the new Jutusu Kaisen movie was released in the United States in March. It has broken many records since it was released in Japan in December 2021. The movie has already become one of the top ten highest-grossing anime films of all time. Hence, It’s no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen is getting its play, as the series is now one of the biggest properties in Japan today.
