Unveiling Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra – What to Expect from the Upcoming Game

Marvel is set to release its new game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra in 2025, featuring WWII, Captain America and the classic Black Panther

Hydra is back!

Epic, during its keynote at the Game Developers Conference, revealed a story trailer for the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra game. The game was initially announced in 2021 and is set to release in 2025. The trailer features the return of Hydra and a story-driven action-adventure narrative.

A number of key characters were revealed in the trailer: a young Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a US soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris.

The game is directed by Amy Hennig, mostly known for his Uncharted Series and will focus on an unpleasant truce between Captain America and Black Panther as they overcome their differences in order to defeat their common enemy. Hennig made the initial announcement about her studio in 2019, which is currently a part of Skydance Media. Despite the fact that we haven’t yet had a peek at any of the studio’s creations, it is evident that they were very busy: the Marvel game and the Star Wars title were both revealed in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

Marvel 1943’s debut trailer makes it clear that the game will likewise be a cinematic action-adventure. There are occasional little gameplay clips, but largely it’s cinematics. Although it’s hard to predict how this will play out, it has definitely aroused fans’ interest. For starters, an MCU game with a WWII setting is a refreshing change of pace, and the fact that it is being developed by renowned author and game director Hennig adds even more intrigue to the endeavour.
